Bubble nylon is one of the polymer derivatives whose raw materials are similar to plain nylon, but its production process is different. In this article, we will examine how the bubble nylon production machine works and how this widely used product is made.
About bubble wrap
In many industries and production units, products are produced that are fragile and vulnerable. Chandelier and lighting products, digital devices and equipment, mobile phones, glass containers, china, etc. are such goods. In order for these products to reach the customer safely, they must have proper packaging. Bubble wrap is one of the packaging essentials in such businesses. The presence of numerous air bubbles on this nylon makes it act like a shock absorber and does not allow the product to be damaged during transportation. These bubbles are placed on the outer surface of nylon, and bubble nylon is usually soft and smooth on the inside.
In the production of bubble nylon, first the raw materials are mixed together by a mixer, and then the combined materials are transferred to the funnel of the machine and through the funnel to the Mardon cylinder. After entering the Mardon cylinder, the materials are heated by the elements and become molten and are guided into the die by the rotation of the Mardon. The function of the die in film production is to receive the melted material from the spiral and transfer it to the exit of the die. After leaving the die, two sheets of film are formed, each of which falls separately on the rollers. One of these films goes to the bubbler roller. The bubble roller is a metal cylinder with a perforated surface. These holes pull the nylon inwards with air suction and create air chambers with certain intervals on the surface of the nylon, which are called bubbles. After the bubble sheet is formed, it enters another roller so that the other film layer, which is plain and without bubbles, is placed on it. These two layers are pressed against each other by a silicone roller that acts hydraulically, and thus the bubble nylon film is made. This film is then sent to the cooling cylinder and then to the rolling roller. Finally, the bubble nylon is cut into the required dimensions, rolled and sent to distribution centers after checking and approval.
Types of machines for producing bubble nylon
In this section, it should be mentioned that the bubble nylon production machine is also available in the market in two-layer and three-layer types, and we will share the working method of each with you:
Two-layer bubble nylon production machine: In this type of machine, two layers of nylon are produced, which are connected and stuck together, but some air is trapped in between. The air between the two layers is drawn by the holes of a suction cylinder. This process causes the bottom layer to have bubbles filled with air trapped between the two layers under the influence of the suction power of the device.
Three-layer bubble nylon production machine: To produce three-layer bubble nylon, all the previous steps are followed. That is, in the beginning, like the previous method, two layers of bubble nylon are made, then the molten resin is pressed again and the third layer is made. Among these three layers, there are materials that make the sheets stick together well. The third layer in three-layer nylons creates a kind of resistance layer for the bottom two layers, which makes the bubbles stronger and prevents them from bursting.Three-layer nylons provide the most impact for large items and are actually the best and most reliable option for packing large items.

The bubble nylon film can be used in both roll and bag forms after production. The bagged bubble nylons are made in 2D and 3D models. Two-dimensional bubble nylon can be used for any type of equipment, especially small items such as breakable dishes, photo frames, chairs, signs, spare parts, electronic components, etc. 3D bubble nylon, however, is used for goods that are made in the shape of a cube and, of course, have a larger size; Appliances such as refrigerators, gas stoves, televisions and any other appliances that are made in this way.
If you intend to bag the bubble roll, you will need a nylon bubble sewing machine. The bubble nylon sewing machine is a horizontal rail type that makes bubble nylons into bags and sews them. This device is available in the market in fully automatic, semi-automatic, pneumatic and thermal models. Which device is more practical depends on the purpose for which it is used. Some manufacturers use the machine only to convert bubble nylon rolls into sheets, for which a pneumatic cutting machine is sufficient. Others need a complete bubble wrap envelope to package their goods, and they need to provide an automatic or semi-automatic sewing and cutting machine. In the following, we will introduce different types of bubble nylon sewing and cutting machines:
Semi-automatic bubble nylon cutting and sewing machine: This machine is able to semi-automatically cut and then sew bubble nylon from 30 cm to 300 cm wide. The meaning of the semi-automatic function in this machine is that the operator must manually define the cutting length and width for the machine, start the machine and collect a number of nylons after cutting.
Fully automatic bubble nylon cutting and sewing machine: The fully automatic sewing and cutting machine is equipped with HMI and PLC (touch screen) and automatically sews a certain number of bubble nylon in a certain length and width according to the program given to it. and cuts Finally, after finishing the operation, the machine stops and the operator can remove the ready bubble bags from the machine. This device is better than other models in terms of speed and cost-effectiveness in terms of not needing a permanent operator.
Pneumatic bubble nylon cutting machine: This machine works by a pedal installed in the bottom part; In this way, every time the pedal is pressed by the foot, the pneumatic jack directs the cold cutting blade towards the nylon and the cutting operation takes place. The speed of this device is higher than thermal models in terms of being pneumatic.
Thermal bubble nylon sewing machine: The function of this machine is also a pedal, with the difference that after pressing the pedal, the hot element of the machine lands on the bubble nylon and presses its two edges together. This model is the cheapest bubble nylon sewing machine available in the market, but in terms of sewing quality, it is at the same level as other mentioned machines.
